From the General Manager

Bula and Sunny Greetings from Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort

Wow, how quickly time flies – it is already April and I am still working on our first Focus update for 2017.

The start of the year has been very interesting – Very busy January and then all of February and the early part of March were very quiet. Occupancies have now picked up and the rest of the year is looking quite good.

On the community front, the team have been exceptionally busy. We opened up the workshop at the Sigatoka Special, launched our new community tourism project at Conua School, hosted over 90 sponsors for the Fiji Kids “Education for Life” program and the Bebe Spa team ran a blood drive and health check for all of the staff.

It is quite amazing how our community tourism has evolved over the years. At the beginning of this year I was approached by the Headmaster at the Conua School who stated he had a “Big Problem”. He stated that when I first visited his school in 2010 there were 55 students. This year over 125 students have enrolled as well as another 28 kindergarten children.

His problem was that he did not have enough classrooms to accommodate.

Simple – Our new community tourism project for 2017 was launched and we are building two new classrooms. The school will use the old shed whilst we build the new classrooms.

How amazing is it that the number of children attending school has tripled in the last 6 years!

I think this is the best part of my job! Whilst our number one priority will always be to ensure that we deliver the best holiday experience ever for our guests, it is also personally rewarding that my team can contribute to our local community.

Warm Regards,

Peter Hopgood
